Disable Auto Search For Network Printers And Folders
XP automatically searches, on a periodic basis, for new printers and folders shared on the network. This can be handy, but uses some system resources and may not be necessary. If you want to disable this automatic search features, here's how:
- Right click the Start button and click Explore.
- On the Tools menu, select Folder Options.
- Click the View tab.
- Under Advanced Settings, scroll down and uncheck the box labeled "Automatically Search for Network Folders and Printers."
